As I awake from my post-festival, 12 hours of sleep, Id like to try to reflect and thank everyone for an unforgettable weekend at Big Wu Family Reunion. This year was definitely the most involved Ive been in terms of pre-festival planning, onsite work, and even musically speaking. From spending long hours in the MJG Productions office with Mark J, Shannon, Jacqueline and Emily trying to think of every little detail so everyone can have a smooth, safe and memorable experience, to 1:30am stage builds with the best crew of Northern Sun Productions workers and volunteers alike that Ive ever worked with, we all made it happen. Tim Leutgeb kept the stages running on time, found drum sets when there werent any, kept spirits high and kept everything behind the scenes going like a champ. Without Shannon Pitzele and Jacqueline Peltier woman-handling the front gate there would have been utter chaos and you would have had a bad time. Never stop thanking them for what they do, because its not just that. Emily Baugus didnt just do a fantastic job making all the bands merch stand out and collecting food at the Massive Amounts of Good / MJG Merch booth...She made the public aware of our party months and months leading up to it by printing posters/handbills and distributing them to our amazing MJG Pro Street Team. A task that not anyone can do and the importance of which cannot be stressed enough. Nick Kolstad and David Riano were on call 24-7 and ready to help anyone and everyone with every little or big issue that may have arisen and I was constantly floored by their dedication and work ethic all weekend long. Thank you to Nacho Queso for inviting me to play with The 4onthefloor on Thursday night, I felt like Mr. Fantasy himself. Thank you to Mark Joseph for inviting me to play with The Big Wu on Friday night, it was a true honor. Thank you to Pat Lenertz for getting me up with Pat Lenertz Band on Saturday, I had a moment back stage listening to you wail that brought tears to my eyes. Thank you to Trevor Anderson, Kurt Andersen and Eric Neseth for being in Circle of Heat and putting everything you had into our set on Saturday...Sirius-ly, one for the books. I now know just an inkling of what it feels like to be Mark Grundhoefer, literally working up until the moment you go on stage and getting to feel the unbelievable release of playing music for the most appreciative audience you could ever ask for...Thats all for now. I cant say it enough times, but here goes one more...Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone involved!
