As I awaken to watch the church publicly crucify Mark Driscoll, - TopicsExpress

As I awaken to watch the church publicly crucify Mark Driscoll, another leader off the rails, Im reminded of two things. Now dont get me wrong, anyone who knows me knows Ive had disagreements with Mr Driscoll and publicly countered some of his statements, however..... 1. Im reminded of another leader who openly failed repeatedly, committing a section 18 by slashing someone with a knife! He went on to publicly declare that he even believed in Jesus, left the ministry and went back to ordinary life. Yet somehow went on to become one of the greatest leaders the church has ever known! Yep, you guessed it, the Apostle Peter, who I doubt would have survived if we would have had 1st Century Facebook and Twitter. 2. Im fully supportive of speaking out against bad theology because its rife in the church. Im fully supportive toward people doing that using the same book writing, tv interviewing, social media tapping that those with Church damaging views use. Im fully supportive of correction and discipline as laid out in scripture. However, some of the motives, venom and outright unforgiveness I see is just plain wrong. So for the same reasons listed above I speak to those jumping on the wagon, those who (in many cases) have never held the pressured position of leadership. The nails you seem so happy to crucify with are nails intended for you, yet Jesus chose to take them in your place. Correct, rebuke, restore, but dont do it with hate and anger in your heart. Think twice, pray thrice, tweet once! Blessings Darrell
