As I contemplate this day, thirty five years ago, I recall the anger and fear I felt as I held my day old Daughter close to my heart and watched the news reports of the meltdown at the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania. I have never - not for a single day - forgotten about the dangers of the nuclear industry. TMI - Chernobyl - Fukushima - Hanford, Carlsbad, Los Alamos and all of the other poison sites are as much a part of my daily and nightly consciousness as thirst, hunger and physical comfort. I have risked my own life, freedom, privacy and health trying to make this a safer place for my kids and have not done nearly as much as many of the people I am blessed to call Friend from the worldwide movement for peace, justice and a safe energy future. If I thought I was in this alone, I would have died from despair a long time ago. Thank you to each and every one of you who has signed a petition, written a letter, stood in a vigil line, risked arrest, spent time in prison, lobbied for legislation, represented a defendant, sent money to support the Work, sang songs to soothe the souls and stir the passions, created art or gardens or families - thank you from the bottom of my aching heart. May we all continue on with our Eyes on the Prize.... holding on.
