As I have said before, I didnt grow up with pets so their behaviors often fascinate and baffle me. Today is an example... I come around the corner into the kitchen, and it is FOOD FEST for the pets. The two cats and the big dog are at the tail end (no pun intended) of their meal, all around their respective bowls. As is normally the case, as they get to the end, the dog, Puck, goes around to ALL the bowls and whatever has spilled on the floor, and gobbles everything up...kind of like a furry ROOMBA. The cats normally stand by and let the big dog eat. Today, though, as Puck nears the bowl right beside our female cat, Kiki, she calmly sizes him up...and belts him right in the face! She hits him so hard, his head snaps sideways, and the chunk of tuna he had just scooped off the floor flies out of his mouth across the floor. Now, Puck outweighs Kiki by a good 45 pounds towering over her, of course, and could easily pick her up and toss her around like a rag doll. Instead, he calmly walks over to the dislodged piece of tuna, scoops it back up, and chomps it down. How does she know hes not going to play chew toy with her? I mean its either incredible courage, stupidity, or an insight into animal behavior worthy of an advanced degree in zoology. (And are Nick and I encouraging this little feline bully by doubling over laughing?) I think she has a future in PAY PER VIEW. She needs representation. Get me Don Kings number.
