As I have taken this journey into mushing and the world of sled dogs, I am often asked about, what else, The Iditarod. This article is a great way to show folks how the dogs are cared for out on the trail. The Seavey family is a mushing family, and no one knows how to do it better than these fine folks. However. I believe that as a community, we must be the first to single out ANYONE who isnt giving first class care to their sled dogs. I may lose a friend or two, but if we arent proactive, for the welfare of the dogs first, the sport and OUR love therein, those that do blow the whistle WILL shine a very, VERY negative light on us when those bad apples (or pieces of shit as I call them) are discovered. This is an issue close to home, and close to my heart. My mother, Lynn Schubert, took in a sled dog rescue. She was saved by an amazing woman, who then nursed her back to health before my mother adopted Mae Mae
