As I lay down and ponder on adaptation to the whole gentrification - TopicsExpress

As I lay down and ponder on adaptation to the whole gentrification epidemic a thought crossed my mind, there was a bunch of black businesses in America, black wall street being one of the most historic places thriving with them, but hell most of them were firebombed, bombed and burned to the ground by American Christians and through the cointelpro program....of course Im not factoring in the systematic oppression businesses succumbed to... I say that to ask this, just as with integration what type of system would we be adapting to? One that preys on the culture and soul of that community? One that brings in profit, but at the expense of transforming a neighborhood full of memories and landmarks and a place that is home to many, into a strip of shops and restaurants that attract people who have absolutely no connection to that block other than the place they had some ok steak at last weekend? I dont believe that we necessarily have to emulate such a soulless detrimental system just to acquire status that doesnt mean anything (Mike Brown was a college bound student with no criminal record). I think its more important to own property, businesses, and homes so that we acquire power and influence. It is also equally important to LEARN THE LAW and take the necessary precautions to protect ourselves...but yea money power and influence are pretty much symbiotic, without one you really dont have the others but many tend to stop themselves at money....let that marinate, goodnight.
