As, I lay here on the floor of the log cabin I built with my own hands on my makeshift Thermarest-Wool blanket bed listening to the fire crackle in my Puff-n-Billy stove I packed from my shed in Michigan full with wood I cut down on my property and split with my splitting mall; I feel a quiet peace. I have once lived in a more materialistic keeping up with Jones fast paced life. I now cherish the simple things like seeing the Little Dipper from my pillow top view through the windows I installed. Or, the sound of my closest neighbor the hoot owl serenading me his goodnight. All, is not perfect with my mountain top cabin but I am learning more about the whole process everyday and more importantly about myself. This cabin build has taught me the value of money and blood, sweat, and tears. It has taught me the value of good friends and fair weather friends. It has taught me humility and honor and how a house feels so much more like home when you pour your heart and soul into it. It has taught me not to dwell on mistakes or flaws fore, most other people will never see it as such. I feel blessed every day I am upon this great earth and to be perched up on this little slice of heaven I have carved out for myself...Now just to find a husband to make a family to enjoy it with me. As, I drift off to sleep I dream of just that special one maybe in my sights.
