As I lay here tonight reflecting upon my life! I was 25 years old when I got paralyzed! I had been snow skiing since I was 15. I woke up Christmas day in the hospital surrounded by my Awesome Friends and Family wondering why and what my life had ahead of it. Honestly I thought it was over! I couldnt grasp living the rest of my life in a wheelchair! I was put in a room with 3 other guys that were paralyzed from the neck down! After many tears and prayers! Almost immediately instead of focusing on what I couldnt do. I looked around the room and realized that I was actually lucky compared to my roommates. I was able to get up out of my bed and into my wheelchair anytime I wanted to. I immediately started looking after my brothers in the room, helping them. Soon, after several weeks of therapy. I decided to cowboyup and grab some weights and begin the rigorous process of adapting to what was now my new reality! I began playing wheelchair basketball for the Carolina Tarwheels! Unbenounce to me I was surrounded with Vietnam Veterans that were on a mission to pass the American Disabilities Act! They wanted no pity. They simply wanted to be treated like able bodied persons when it came to access to the world. The following year I was introduced to an Awesome Adaptive Ski Program at Beech Mtn Nc. Needless to say! It changed my mindset when I went and got back on the mountain and began skiing again I felt Normal again! Hauling ass down the mountain passing everyone that I could! It was an Awesome feeling! As the years went by. My instructor invited me to come to Breckenridge Colorado and ski some wicked powder! But most of all! I realized that everything that I thought was Gone in my life had actually taken a different path and was a blessing in disguise! I could go on and on talking about the next 20+years. But my simple message to you is. During this Holiday Season. I know that there are alot of people going through challenges of their own! Just know that with prayers, family and friends! You can accomplish anything that you set your mind to. Noone ever said that life was gonna be fair! But only you can decide the definition of Fair! I posted this video to hopefully inspire someone else that might be going through a tough time right now and is questioning their future or their God! I wouldnt have been able to make it without FAITH! I hope that everyone has a Very Merry Christmas! #Godbless #muchrespect #PUHPOW #WHEELZ #justsayin #NOLIMITS
