As I left Enugu, the erstwhile capital of Eastern Nigeria yesterday - TopicsExpress

As I left Enugu, the erstwhile capital of Eastern Nigeria yesterday ,I was shedding tears.Tears that the successive governments of the states that made up the former Eastern Region of Nigeria had let their people down.Enugu is not an oil-producing state (like other states in the former Eastern Region) and does not benefit from the monthly oil windfall, but the level of infrastructural development in this hill-clad state is very high when compared to other Igbo States that receive this monthly oil money. No jingles on radio to worship their governor despite his giant strides;no computer-generated developmental programmes on television to create the impression that the state has been transformed;no oratorial speeches on public functions to draw unnecessary applause;no uncompleted road projects.Roads were constructed to stand the test of time and with proper drainage systems etc.Eastern Nigeria, the land of the rising sun must triumph against those do-nothing governors that have made us an object of pity!
