As I mentioned earlier, my kiddos slept through most of their check up today. Which gave me and the ped a chance to have a nice, uninterrupted chat. Hes been our pediatrician since the day after my first son was born, so we go a way back. Anyway I filled him in on all the appointments we have been on this year and Sophies genetic results. He took the opportunity to whip out some developmental chart and asked a few questions- of course I had to answer no, no she doesnt do any of those things. At home in the evening I was reflecting on that as I was washing the dishes. I cant say I was sad, I wasnt feeling anything other than the usual processing/sorting my brain does after a thought-provoking event. As if on cue, Sophie walked in carrying her ipad and smiling at me as she does. She only comes to the kitchen if she is hungry so I set her up in her chair with some grapes. She smiled gratefully and went on with her Thomas. And you know what I realized? It doesnt matter. Who cares if she can hop on one foot or scribble a crayon or use scissors? She is perfect and she loves us and we love her. Shes happy to be in our family, that much is evident. As I was putting her to sleep she kept grabbing my face and smiling at me. I couldnt ask for anything more than my Soaps, and thats no lie
