As I mentioned yesterday, here is the first post in a 4-part - TopicsExpress

As I mentioned yesterday, here is the first post in a 4-part series for P-R-A-Y Your Passport to Physical Fitness and its Spiritual Impact. P - PREPARATION & PROPER NUTRITION (Requires Lifestyle Changes) ~ PREPARATION – 1. Discipline - Clean out those pantries/cabinets, refrigerators, snacks you hiding under the bed away from the kids. 2. Meals – replace with healthier options 3. Workout Bag – clothes, tennis, hand weights, bottle of water and a towel, 4. Family – get them to help you on this journey - helping the people around you eat healthier. You may initially get some resistance, but eventually, they will come around. ~ NUTRITION- Proper nutrition is EVERYTHING!!!! I can’t stress this enough. Just as spiritual fitness requires the proper daily nourishment of spiritual food through reading of the word, your body also needs the proper daily nourishment of food. An Article in Journal American Medical Association titled “Physical Activity and Cognitive Function in Women,” “How nutrition affects a person’s mood is another example of physical health impacting mental health. In general, a diet that keeps blood sugars at an acceptable level and provides plenty of tryptophan and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids is most likely to help a person make and use serotonin, a feel-good chemical in the brain. Thus foods rich in omega-3 fats — salmon, sardines, walnuts, and flaxseed — may help combat mild depression. Good food sources of tryptophan — an essential amino acid in the human diet that the body uses to make serotonin — include fish, turkey, chicken, cheese, beans, milk, eggs, and chocolate. A person who feels healthy and energetic will have greater resources for ministering to others and bouncing back from setbacks. While physical suffering and anxiety over health concerns certainly can draw us closer to God, it is easier to resist temptation and make wise choices when we are feeling well. Thus, a person’s physical health can affect a person’s spiritual well-being.” ~ WATER, WATER, WATER!!!!! – ½ your weight ~ PORTION CONTROL (please eat smaller but more frequent meals/snacks) DO NOT skip meals. This is a misconception of when you do not eat you can lose weight. NOT true. You are depriving your body of those meals and it causes your body to store that food and it slows down your metabolism. You need to feed your body every 3-4 hrs. It’s easy to go out and try the quick fix diets or pills…but in most cases, the weight comes back with a vengeance. Just know, Everything does not work for everybody. That’s why if you eat right, use portion control, drink plenty of water and choose the right supplements for you. You can keep the weight off. ~ JOURNAL - And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Habbakuk 2:2-3 Be Blessed
