As I near my 2nd USA tour, I thought Id write a little review on how the first tour went in July of this year. They say time flies when you’re having fun and that’s certainly been the case this past month with the amount of international bookings! The same weekend America celebrated it’s birthday, I headed stateside for 4th July to bring the sound of UK Garage and Bass Music to the USA. Perfectly wrapped up with four amazing gigs; I was living the American dream that’s for sure! I kicked off my US debut at AC Slater’s firing night at Sound Nightclub in Hollywood that sends tremors across the city and appropriately named ‘Night Bass.’ I’ve been tipped off by other artists who have touched down at this club and was very excited to play. So it was ‘Hello Hollywood’ and the crowd’s reaction was a fantastic wave of applause to my signature DJ EZ intro and boy did they get the UKG sound; a jaw dropping show at Sound and I hope to return again soon. Thanks to the Dim Mak crew and all those that made the trip down and was good to see the likes of Royal T ion the house. Thank you and respect to all my LA ravers! You can read my interview in DJ Mag USA on how things rolled out in Cali… And view and share the pics from here: https://facebook/media/set/?set=a.10152524575208006.1073742552.248687358005&type=3 The second stop off for my US tour was techno’s birthplace – a sound I used to play in the early days - that dance music mecca, Detroit. I touched down at the club ‘Grasshopper Underground’ to perform a more laid back affair, whereby I adjusted my usual fast paced tempo to focus on the more house ‘n’ garage side of things. The crowd welcomed me with open arms and a massive thank you to all those who joined in for those 4th July celebrations. Now they say it’s the city that never sleeps; well I can testify for this as I certainly didn’t! UKG definitely took a big bite out of the big apple as I played two astounding gigs in this city. First up, MoMA PS1 in Queens, New York with my brother from another mother, Todd Edwards. The perfect weather for an outside rave, held in the courtyard of this super cool museum. It was great to hang out with my good pal Todd Edwards and perform as the sun was setting across the city. The reviews for this party were phenomenal and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Dropping a wide selection of beats was a highlight right to the end of the set where some serious classics caused a stage rush; sorry! The humidity caused the temperatures to soar and the vibes here were HOT. I later found out the NY Times turned up and gave this great review for my NY debut. Read all about it…nytimes/2014/07/07/arts/music/todd-edwards-and-dj-ez-play-moma-ps1s-warm-up-series.html?_r=2 After a quick bit to eat at Soho House NY, I stepped up to the controls at another of NY’s hidden secrets, Output Club in Brooklyn. This is a mecca for underground dance beats and Jamie Jones hosted the main room, while I delivered a house and garage set in The Panther room. This cool and intimate club with low ceilings and dark décor is the perfect place to get lost in the music. I’ll definitely be heading back here. It was great to see Brits had made the journey to all my shows and thank you to the American followers of garage music for helping this sound cross the Atlantic so smoothly. And finally, a BIG thank you to my talented US agents Mike and Gabi at APA Agency for putting together this tour and many more! I now look forward to my 2nd USA tour from Thursday 14th – Saturday 16th August at the following venues: Thursday 14th August: Flash in Washington DC – Set time: 12:00am Friday 15th August: Bardot in Miami, Florida – Set Time: 12:30am Saturday 16th August: Verboten, Brooklyn NY – 1:30am
