As I peruse these pictures, I find some interesting dichotomies. For example, there were the honor students and high achievers. There were the students who were smart and never recognized because of whatever was going on in their lives and others who did not have a clue.. With our sugar intake and some other stuff going on, there was definitely a little ADHD and conduct disorder. However, the teachers and parents stuck it out. Access to mental health and medication was not an option. Yet, still today, in all honesty, we still label each other as smart, bad, cute, and crazy, How did that effect many of us who had problems in our environment and low self-esteem. It was a long journey, but I am so glad to be able to look back and laugh!
