As I read the various posts, especially from folks who apparently retired to Deutschland, it reminds me of just how much I still want to return. I left Pirmasens the end of June 1979. In early 1977 I bought my first street-only Motorcycle, and while riding the canyons, for the first time I heard on song from a band which would become my favorite. The song was Me262 about the Luftwaffes semi successful launch of the worlds first active jet in a war. The managerie of thoughts that day led me to want to build a tribute Cafe Racer to that song/band (Blue Oyster Cult) and some day bring it back to Germany for an extended summer vacation. Im now on the cusp of being able to finally realize my dream of 37 years ago. So if I may be so bold, Id like to reach out to my fellow german vets and ask for logistical assistance in helping me arrange lodgings with a secure place to keep my bike at night. Im sure it wont be inexpensive, but I dont care if my accommodation is better than the bikes! Well.....almost! So any ideas along the lines of finding the necessary accomodations would be greatly appreciated. If everything goes right, perhaps I can arrange for this to happen next summer!
