As I reflect on the holidays, I have come to understand that I am - TopicsExpress

As I reflect on the holidays, I have come to understand that I am an unique person that God created. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia at South Fulton Hospital, as were all my siblings. I grew up in Zebulon, Georgia with my cousin Liz Manders Hawkins and great aunt Ruby Manders teaching me to fish, hunt and pick crops from a very large garden. I went to Pike County schools for first grade. By that time, I knew how to kill and dress a deer, pluck a chicken, harvest corn and pick up pecans from the ground. I think I might have picked some peaches too. Life was not easy, but I have a lifetime of beautiful memories. That includes killing and eating deer. I cherished my family time. I cherished the fire in Aunt Rubys home that made me feel loved. When I moved to Fayette County Georgia in second grade, I learned who was on Mothers side of the family. We cherished every minute. Friday nights were for catfish fries and making hush puppies. We cut watermelon on the picnic table and picked Muscadines from my familys harvest. On Sunday mornings, my Aunt Oweeda Seay made the best breakfast ever. Her biscuits were to die for. She was a wizard in the kitchen and for that I am so thankful. She canned all summer so we would eat well in the winter. She is one of a kind and I hope she is proud of me. So, here I am, 40 years later and a trial Lawyer in Florida. Who could have guessed? Not me! But, I cherish the loving environment I grew up in and the diverse experiences my family exposed me to. I am not the pride of the Manders, but am simply one of the Manders. We are a hardy breed and we survive. We made our own rules and we live by them. I love my family dearly, through thick and thin, and am one very lucky girl! I wish you all a happy holiday season and I hope you all have as great memories as I do! I was born blessed and still feel that God has his hand on my life. Happy Holidays to everyone!
