As I said in a earlier statement, Big Hero Six is two things. One: #WhatDragon2ShouldHaveBeen And two: #BetterThanFrozenInEveryWay. Big Hero Six not only is on par with The BoxTrolls for my favorite movie of the year, its probably my new favorite Disney movie aside from The Little Mermaid. Its a movie thats almost a A combination of all my favorite aspects from their two newest works: Frozen and Wreck it Ralph. From Frozen: It takes the wonderful characters, fantastic music, and great humor. From Wreck It Ralph: It takes the fun cartoony animation while mixing it with more of Frozen/Comic Book/Anime design and look, investing story, and great heart. Its breathtakingly gorgeous with the amount of polish and detail put into both the world, and the characters. It even has some elements of The Cloudy movies in terms of texture on them as well. Where as Frozen was mostly leaning towards a more realistic look with some more traditional 80s/90s Disney designs with the characters. Now something worth mentioning to me personally, is the musical score, because HOLY F*CK IS THIS A GREAT SOUNDTRACK! Its like a mix of John Powell and Hans Zimmer. Giving some truly great tracks, in fact Id love to find the soundtrack online or even buy it on disc. (Yes I still do that, SHUT UP! IM NOT A HIPSTER!) I heard people say that the side characters and story are underdeveloped, well......Id disagree...partly. I will admit the first 20 minutes werent really selling me on the film, it wasnt until...well....something really bad happens that really caught me off guard in terms of how subtly violent it was, not spoiling anything, just....trust me. As for the side characters.......AT LEAST THEY WERENT DAMP CARDBOARD CUT OUTS OF FANTASTIC CHARACTERS FROM A PREVIOUS MOV! (https://youtube/watch?v=kvX7TFA4jV0) ......sorry, back to them. Yeah, they dont have the strongest development, but I didnt feel like they were just there so that way theyll call it Big Hero Six. Because, lets face it, Giant balloon nurse in rejected Iron Man armor with some smart 13 year old. isnt that great of a title for your movie. I found them all genuinely likable, and at times, hysterical. (Especially Fred and Baymax, who had me, my brothers friends mom, and most of the audience laughing our asses off. ((Its a long story)) ) As for the villain? Not as good as Archibald Snatcher from The BoxTrolls, but hes ten times more threatening and developed than Drago Bloodshit or whatever the hell is name was from Dragon 2. At least he had a motivation that wasnt just swinging a stick in the air screaming to make a dragon kill people for god knows what and F*CK THAT MOVIE HA (https://youtube/watch?v=kvX7TFA4jV0) ....again, sorry. Now how does it stand as a Marvel Movie? Would I say its better than Guardians of The Galaxy?.....yes. Yes I would. Dont get me wrong, Guardians is still a fantastic movie in every way possible, but I felt like I kind of overreacted with my original review saying its THE GREATEST MOVIE EVAR! And shit like that. Im not sure if it will be with Batman Begins (My favorite comic book movie of all time), but I can still say, Big Hero Six is a fantastic addition to Disneys massive library of truly great films. (with a few exceptions of course.) I think Chris Stuckmann put it best, but Im gonna put my own spin on what he said. This movie to me is like an amalgamation of The Incredibles, The Avengers, The Iron Giant, and Terminator Two........what more do I need to say after a statement like that? Definitely do your best to check it out, you wont regret it. I know I didnt. Final score: Destroys Frozen and Lege/10 (Litte review for Feast, the short that played before the film. Its a very cute short, but what really make its stand out is, of course, the animation. I believe it utilized the PaperMan technology, but instead of black and white like PaperMan, it uses more Colors in what I think was cell shading in terms of them. I fell like in a mater of years, with a few more tweaks and more time to perfect it for a feature film, we could be seeing a new step forward in CGI animation. Final score: 8/10.)
