As I sail my tractor across a rolling sea of grass, I am surrounded by Barn Swallows swooping and diving before me. They are so quick as they snatch grasshoppers out of the air, that the tractor has scared up. It reminds me of the fishing boats out in the ocean, with Sea Gulls all around them. I see myself as the captain of my vessel, sailing out towards the horizon. Sometimes a little grasshopper will land on my steering wheel and hang on for a few minutes, safe from harm. The Swallows fledglings all stand in a row on the fence, as their mother feeds them. She never lands, but continues to fly from one little bird to the next. Sometimes mowing can be such a neat experience, or maybe I have just spent way too much time out in the sun.
