As I sat across from Mayor Finizio at our MetroCast, producers - TopicsExpress

As I sat across from Mayor Finizio at our MetroCast, producers meeting on Jan. 12, 2015. I was looking at a man that I had once, was one of his first supporters in our City; as he broke on to the New London scene with his run for the office of Mayor. I have say to my shame, I promoted him; and his agenda in the beginning of his mayoral campaign. Now across from me, he is seating between us I have several years of real hammering at his administration and office; we now are clearly on opposites sides of the political spectrum. We both are Democrats; though he has been voted out of his Town Committee seat. I am with the angry Democrats; who had to watch him hurt and destroy family’s and jobs in our Town. He had chopped people out of their jobs, people i may not have agreed with but did not deserve his treatment. He said to me: You know when you take over an organization you have to go quick and get rid of those who are your opposition. Just good administration. He was right, I do know the book, and the training that says that is one of the ways to take over leadership. I personally, do not agree with that form of organizing. Especially for a small Town and Government entity; they are not the same as businesses as many would like to think. I believe, if you are put into leadership to solve problems and lead. You do not have to destroy everything; in many case you do not want to, for you lose key elements, you lose a history at a huge training cost; you use those folks that have been there for years; it is the smart thing to do; you develop them into the positive people that can be working under your philosophy. If they refuse to adapt well then you chop heads. Nevertheless, first you try to work it out. For that working out process to happen, it takes seasoned leadership and a knowledge of people; It is nothing to take an old house, tear it down; and build a new one, with a cheaper structure. However, to restore and bring back to life, a great old building; takes finesse, artistry of restoration, a good and positive leader. One willing to work with everyone to achieve real value in what he has in its historic worth. Like our City. These are a few of the reasons I believe in Michael Passero. I do not see him, as the butcher, of backer’s field. I see him as a, sound leader, knowing how to deal with crisis and men and women that have to deal with huge difficult problems. In Michael passero, I know what his years of training consist of, his years on the job. I know what his education has lead to, his ability to sit down and negotiate the hard issues. I know what his delivery if; I have seen him before the highest Courts. It is all of these things that tells me and my folks we are “Passero Proud”. We will be there for the votes.
