As I sat at a jackpot show on Saturday frustrated on how the day in the ring had gone. I had taken to what I believe was a pretty good set of hogs. Through all the activities in the day I had the privilege to talk with a breeder that is just as passionate about this industry as I am. Hearing all these tricks and little things that could help make things easier, but one thing really stuck with me through it all. She told me, The important thing is to be happy with your set and to not let someone else determine your happiness of your show stock. I am happy with my set of hogs weve raised and thats what makes this worthwhile for me. If you ever lose your happiness in your set then you will lose your love for the industry. This was something that I really needed to hear. I got to thinking that I love the set of pigs Ive put in the barn. Taking hogs to a show is one mans opinion, but to truly be happy with our set of show stock we first must be satisfied with them ourselves. Then the ones man opinion will not bother us as much. Im thankful for the highly satisfying set of I am able to feed this year.
