As I see it happen a lot on the local pages I just want to give my customers some information on the dangers of buying a second hand child restraint. If you choose use a second hand child restraint, make sure you check: ~ How old it is ~ What condition its in ~ Whether its been in any accidents ~ Whether it meets Australian safety standards ~ Whether it comes with all parts including the instruction booklet To make sure your child is as safe as possible do not buy, accept or use a restraint that: ~ Is more than 10 years old ~ Has been in a crash, even if there is no obvious damage ~ Has splits, cracks or large stress marks in the restraint shell ~ Has straps that are frayed, worn or damaged If you are ever unsure of whether a child restraint is safe to use please feel free to bring it into Mollys Baby Room and we can assess it for you. I would love to see the admins on the pages make it compulsory to state these details about child restraints when advertising them for sale. Here are some links with info to help you with buying/using a second hand child restraint mobile.abc.net.au/news/2012-11-22/second-hand-child-car-restraints-put-kids-in-danger/4386416 thecarseatlady.wordpress/tipsheets/used/
