As I see the increase in posts encouraging outrage against Columbus Day, Id like to take a moment to mention that the average American doesnt even know the supposed story of Columbus and they dont care about it at all. Its one of the most inconsistently celebrated holidays and it isnt even officially recognized here in the state of TX or in AK, AR, CA, DE, FL, HI, MI, MN, NV, OR, SD, VT, WA, WI and WY. If wed stop giving it our own power it would fade into obscurity where it belongs and we could finally move forward. It has been used to stir up contentions and because we keep taking the bait were just puppets. Use your energy talking to educators year round about every subject and supporting the community as a way of life - that gains a lot more respect as a whole than acting the part of the social outcast. https://tsl.texas.gov/ref/abouttx/holidays.html
