As I set in my office at the movie theatre while “It’s a Wonderful Life” plays for 15 of our most precious citizens the residents of Carroll Nursing Home of Oak Grove and Shady Lake of Lake Providence, I reflect on this past week. This week has been an emotional roller coaster for all of us here at Holland Entertainment. We have gone from the high of entertaining and being blessed by the presence of over 1,200 children from our regions schools, to the low of learning a business associate was lost shortly after meeting with her at our office. However, through all of this we know, that the Lord above is in charge and tomorrow is always just a day away. I have delayed making any post about the situation regarding the fatal wreck in our parish this week in order to reflect and insure that I said the right words. Lydia Nicole Snyder, a salesman with One Better Cinema Advertising, along with her brother met with Mrs. Jan and I, Tuesday night at 5:30 pm. From the minute she walked into the door positivity radiated from her as she truly had a friendly, sweet and angelic personality and we as a family were looking forward to developing a relationship with her and her firm in the coming months. The two-hour meeting with her and her brother went from telling family stories, to talking local politics and college (Gabrielle was an aid to a NC State Senator) to actually discussing business. These two hours were probably the best business meeting I have had in quite some time. Before they left we toured the theatre and she was very impressed with what we as a community have accomplished here along with our town and had much optimism about being able to assist us with our on-screen advertisement at the theatre the potential to work with our local businesses to help them attract new customers. As they left they were happy laughing and looking forward to eating Shrimp and Grits at The Cotton Restaurant in Monroe, as her brother had saw Chef Bahr on the Food Network before going to meet with other theatres in Mississippi on Wednesday. Unfortunately that never happened. We have spoken with the family today and Gabrielle, has gone through several hours of surgery and is recovering at University Health in Jackson, Miss. As a family and industry partner our thoughts and prayers are with the Snyder Family, The Family of One Better Cinema Advertising and also the family of the five-year old from our home town who is recovering at the hospital as well. These types of events are always hard, and even harder during this time of the year, yet we know in the end with we stay focused on the Lord as the old hymn says and I can hear Mr. J.I. Newell and Granny Austin singing it now. “When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be, When we all get to Heaven, We will sing and shout the victory.” ---Adam T. Holland
