As I sit here contemplating what I have just heard on the news I am prone to vent my feelings. A story of a young teenager bullied while at school all because his family could not afford Michael Jordan shoes, when another teenager heard about the bullying he gave the young teenager his shoes so that he might have what the other kids had. We ask why bullying happens today more than back in our own generation and the answer for this parents have become lax in how the old ways were. What was right is not allowed, in my day if I stepped out of line in anyway I was disciplined. Spankings occurred and a slap across the mouth was expected if one spoke out of place, even soap in the mouth, and finally a good grounding. Yet todays child only has to say child abuse and report it to one person for the parent to get in trouble, why we ask parents that were never disciplined made an issue or those that were disciplined made an issue so todays kid can behave however he or she wants. Now I have heard the excuses, but personally in my opinion which does not matter to some I believe that we should be held under the same guidelines as the military if the spouse or child gets in trouble the parents should face the judge and fined this to me is a good punishment. Again just my opinion but if we are forced to deal with the punishment then maybe being to lax or not on top of our children will not happen. People shake their heads at some of the things children do or young teenagers and say, oh they made a mistake or look at how they are raised. If it was back during our grandparents time this actions would be frowned on and dealt with in accordance, I realize it is Christmas but change needs to occur the lack of respect, ethics, morals, and values need to be re-evaluated and re-established otherwise what do our future generations have before them. Do not get me wrong some understand where I stand on this issue, and this is not aimed at those that live by this standard it is for those that refuse to open up their eyes and realize this behavior is socially unacceptable no matter how you justify it.
