As I sit here on my 29th birthday and see all the birthday wishes coming in, Im reminded of how blessed I am to have breath in my lungs and a God who loves me so passionately that he gives me chance after chance..but today I am reminded of 13 years ago sitting in my American history class. While singing myself happy birthday and Amy Jackson Broughton shaking her head at me and laughing as another teacher ran in to our classroom to interrupt us with terrible news. tune the TV on, she yelled. And then, I sat as horror, anger and confusion filled my heart when the tv came on just as the second airplane crashed in to the World Trade Center. Being there exactly 1 month to the day before, I could not believe my eyes.. Now a days when people hear what day my birthday is, they cringe and give me a line like, that sucks, or, I bet that day was awful. To which I reply, yes, that day was awful, and it does suck that it happened and Im sad about the lives lost unwillingly in that tragic event, Im extremely grateful to live in a land where so many GAVE up their lives to try and save as many as possible. So, to this I say, thank you to those who lost their lives in that event trying to save anyone..thank you to the NYPD, the NYFD...also, thank you to those of you who serve in the United States armed forces! Thank you.
