As I sit here on the patio, listening to the crickets, watching the occasional lightning bug appear and disappear on a whim...I find it easy to get lost in thought, heavy-hearted in prayer. I think about the struggles of the day, and the blessings intertwined within. I think about those who are hurting, those who are burdened, and those who fight onward, against the odds. And then it hits me...subtlety at first. Then in a tidal wave of raw emotion I ask myself...what about this life is so bad, how have we lost sight of grace, why are so many people miserable? Just as a light breeze starts to blow, a calmness quickly takes over, and everything changes from questioning what, how, and why...to simply hearing, Fear not for I am with you. Life isnt about having all of the right answers to the questions we ask. Its about having a simple, childlike faith that no matter the amount of chaos swirling around us, God is in control. Its not a new concept, its not a new approach, its not rocket science. Its about reminding ourselves that even when we fail to understand the basic mysteries of this life, God is still God. Because of Him, we have life. Thanks to Him, mercy is ours for the asking. Through His love, we have a promise that He will never leave or forsake us. And that...is all we will ever need.
