As I sit here praying about next Sunday and the message I will be - TopicsExpress

As I sit here praying about next Sunday and the message I will be preaching thoughts of my mother came to the forefront. A little more that 35 years ago I lost my mother, she had just turned 48. We take for granted so often of our parents, calling them seldom, visiting them even less, you know the regular excuses, too much to do, not enough time and then they are gone and we wish we had taken the time to be with them more. Most of our parents gave a lot to help us to be what we are and who we are, shouldnt we take the time to be with them more. Each year on Mothers day I recommit to living a life to share the love my mother gave to me. This Mothers Day I will be challenging mothers to love more, husbands to love their wives more, children to respect their mothers more, and most of all, to love the Lord, and live a life that is pleasing to God. Yes it will be a traditional sermons, encouraging us to honor our mothers(Ephesians 6:2), obey your mother (Ephesians 6:1), Mother train your child in the ways of our Lord (Proverbs 22:6), Children listen to your mothers teachings (Proverbs 6:20), respect and value you mother (Leviticus 19:3), and do not strike; I think that would include not striking them with bad remarks (Exodus 21:15)... Yes these are traditional items for traditional Mothers Day sermons but looking at how some children treat them mothers and how some mothers treat their children and family, we need to preach these more than just mothers day... To a mother who gave her best for her family, thank you mom, I love you and look forward to the day I see you again... thank you for being such a loving mother who loved and lived for our Lord.
