As I sit here with tears running down my face, it dawns on me that yesterday was the 21st, the day Patches died so unexpectedly one day after leaving NCSU vet school after being treated for idiopathic thrombocytopenia. Its the first day in three years I didnt stay in my shell crying over losing my best friend, my heart, my soul mate. Three days later on the 24th, that skinny little broken three legged puppy came into our life. Andy, Liam, and I were broken to the core. Since that day she has kept us all on our toes, and yesterday, she brought together with thousands of others to give back. She has always given back, today I realize there were so many miracles that came with losing Patches and Laila joining our family. They all started with Patches and happen daily through my sassy Lil Stinky Laila Ali. Thank you to everyone who turned yesterday into a day of happiness and joy.
