As I sit in the lobby waiting to go in one of my last few times, I am reminded to be so thankful that I have the VA to take care of me. Not just physically but also mentally. Its a relief to know that there will be no cost to me for all my treatments since I am part of a clinical study. All my followups will be free. Im particularly thankful for Amber and Cathy who are the techs who have been with me for the last nine weeks, the nurse practitioners, the people at the front desk who had a piece of candy for us after every treatment. To the men Ive met there also waiting for treatments and their stories. Ive learned to slow down through this journey, pay attention to whats most important, for me in order is God, my love Lori, family, friends and my work. Ive become more connected to my creator. Im learning to be a better listener and making sure I understand what is being said, instead of trying to be understood first. Im thankful to Lori who through all of this loves me unconditionally. My brother Norm who calls me every week to see how Im doing. To my friends who are praying for me. To my daughter Charity whom Ive come closer to through many challenges that both of us have experienced. To all of you who have been following my journey and rooting me on, I love you and thank you for being my friend.
