As I walked up the elaborate aluminum ramp leading to the front - TopicsExpress

As I walked up the elaborate aluminum ramp leading to the front door, I could hear my heart pounding. It had been about 3 years since I was able to come visit the parents of a friend for about 50 years. My voice coupled with senior hearing loss has made it virtually impossible to speak on the phone. Before I made the trip, my first call was to these wonderful folks that have been the world to me for a very long time. My voice was perfect and I had to not only share the joy, but let them know I was coming to visit! When I saw the look on her face; the horror as she stood there asking me who I was..well, it was hard to take. I kept telling her my name until she finally beloved me. It was in a strong, booming voice, I might add. Tears were streaming down her face after she realized who I was. She was very apologetic between the sobbing. But wait, I came her to share my joy. This isnt how it was supposed to start at all! We spent hours talking about how good EVERYONE looked, we cried, we laughed...but most importantly, we shared our love for each other. I was glad I waited especially to look better, but also to be able to thank two very special people in my life that have been there for me beyond anything anyone could imagine. For a half a century!
