As I was carrying in a couple of cold drinks (cokes) for Rusty and me this evening my hands were freezing. I sat them down on the counter of the front desk to warm them up before going any farther. The security guard asked me if I needed to know a patients room number. I told him sadly, No. I know where I am going. It then hit me... six weeks ago today my world was tossed upside down! That was the longest trip to Tulsa I have ever taken and as far as I know it could have been in record time. (Thanks to the my driverErica Sampson.) I have never been so scared in my life waiting to hear how Rusty Dillard was going be. The support we had that night in the waiting room was amazing! I can not begin to thank everyone for the texts, calls, visits, support, but most of all the prayers. I know Rusty would not be where he is today without the enormous amount of prayers! I have to thank Arden Rozell-Sampson and Erin Dillard again for saving Rustys life! (I am well aware of the many individuals who were also there to help!-A huge thanks to all of you too!) I have shed many tears over the last six weeks because I was scared, sad, tired, and upset, but also tears of joy and happiness. We will be going home Wednesday-if all goes according to plans. We are both ready to be there! I hope being home and back in Tahlequah will help Rusty with his memory. He is doing great physically and much better with his cognitive skills, but we do have a ways to go. I am proud of how hard he works! Sorry for the long update. I dont plan to do another one until we get home. I have learned several things...1) Dont think something cant/wont happen to you or your family. 2) Have a durable power of attorney. 3) Write down your passwords, monthly bills, and pin numbers and give them to someone or put them in a safe place. Not only do I pray for Rusty each night, I thank the Lord for our friends and family who are praying for us and thinking about us! Cant wait to get home!!! See everyone soon.
