As I was cleaning up my house and going through some old mail I stumbled upon an envelope that looked like there was a check inside. Inside was a letter and a check for a mini-grant I wrote back in January to conduct a project to combat childhood obesity. The $2,750 grant from NADA would allow me to teach a 12-week dance/nutrition program to youth (Oakland/Bay Area) who are at risk for obesity at NO COST to the families. The project will remain under The Groovlings name and will start in late August for the beginning of the Fall school year. I am already getting choked up as I write this because this is a huge sign for me, to keep pushing and continue to do what it is that I love. Community nutrition is what I went back to school for.
