As I was getting ready to leave tonight to come home my heart - TopicsExpress

As I was getting ready to leave tonight to come home my heart simply broke. I said goodnight to Big Guy and his young son and daughter (we dont usually have children) who were bedding down in the foyer of the church to keep the kids separated from the folks in the warehouse. As I went into the warehouse I first noticed how many more had come in back there during church. I spoke to many old familiar faces that we dont see a lot until it gets cold. I felt a strong urge to call our leadership team together and pray for peace, unity and protection and to thank God for allowing us to be His hands and feet, called to take care of his forgotten children. I tucked Nicole and Marie in and told the guys goodnight. As I pulled out of the parking lot I saw a city policeman next door, so I stopped in to check on the old gentleman sleeping on the side walk. We had carried him soup and coffee and tried to get him to stay with us, but he refused. George will be checking on him throughout the night. The policeman said he was going to check on several other camps and would probably be bringing us a few more. We dont advertise that we are going to be open, its all word of mouth among the homeless community. Some come to eat, some stay the night, all needing love and acceptance. We know how most of them got to be homeless, but it doesnt matter. We all have hurts, hang ups. and habits and they are no different. Please pray for this Ministry and for the church that houses it.
