As I was leaving my other job tonight, Pascal Pilote asked me Wheres the Power Pop? Hahaaaa... here are The Bureaucrats featuring my good friend Joe Frey on guitar. Known to the pop punk cognoscenti, The Bureaucrats burned a bright flame across the 78-80 punk/wave Ottawa scene, itself prodded along by Rotters Club instigator Stuart A. Smith, who conveniently also owned a recording studio where he and Carl Schultz recorded everybody. So, now, they are mixing hours and hours of rare sonic treasures, including (drum roll) The Bureaucrats (hello, Pierpaolo de Iulis, ti devo parlare di questi cose)... and of course, I am on board to help bring all this amazing music out into the world. Pay close attention to the photo slide show in this video; it features a lot of Rotters Club regulars plus Freddy Pompeii, John Hamilton, Johnny Macleod, Stephen Mahon, and others. The whole Ottawa scene is completely undocumented and this trove of music will definately re-shape the landscape a bit. This should be your next book, Geoff Pevere, since you were actually there.
