As I was praying this morning, I was talking to God about this - TopicsExpress

As I was praying this morning, I was talking to God about this page and whether or not I am fulfilling His Will. This led me into some study regarding the aims of this page. One of those is the exhortation of believers. II Timothy 4:2 says, Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. Another aim is to teach the Word of God. Colossians 3:16 says, Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. I have asked God daily to show me what He wants me to share. Another word for exhortation is encouragement. We need, so badly, in the Body of Christ, to encourage one another in the Lord. We need to build one another up. Proverbs 27:17 says, Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. We sharpen each other as we study, comment, share, and grow in understanding and appreciation of Gods Word. I am open to suggestions, if there is a certain topic, book of the Bible, scripture, etc. that you would like to study. Just as arms, legs and torsos are all members of one body, so, we as Christians, are all members of the Body of Christ. We are all members of this site. I want to thank you for your support, encouragement, and prayers. I feel a great responsibility to make this page what God wants it to be. I am a vessel, only. I am His servant. He is the Master and it is His Will that I want to obey. Nothing in this world is more important to me than to be smack in the middle of His Perfect Will for my life. I see a lot of wonderful posts on Facebook which say that their children or grandchildren are the most important thing in their lives. I cant agree with that. I love my children, Jerry and Charlene, with all the love a Mother can muster. I love my Grandchildren, LeeAnna, Warren, Taylor and RJ with the love that only a Grandmother has. They, however, are not more important to me than Jesus. My relationship with Christ is paramount. He was clear about His expectations when He said, And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. (Luke 9:57-62) He expects to be first. God expects to be first. We find that in the Ten Commandments. When God said we are to have no other Gods before Him, He was not referring just to idols of wood and stone...He was talking about ANYTHING that took precedence over our relationship with Him. We are free to love people and things and we are free to love them deeply, but if they begin to mean more to us than our relationship to Jehovah God and His Son, Jesus Christ, we have made them into an idol. This has been hard for me to fully put into practice in my life. I can find a million excuses for not giving God the first fruits of my day. Many times these are legitimate, but God has made it plain to me that if something I need to do conflicts with the time I usually set aside for Him, I need to plan ahead and get up earlier. Now, I love sleep. My best sleep is from about 2am to 6am and it has been hard for me to discipline myself to get up during those hours when I need to. It has been one more surrender in a succession of surrenders that have followed my conversion experience. Your surrender may be different. Regardless of what it is, God wants to be first. If we are to live victoriously through Christ, we have to put God first. He says that if we are lukewarm (which I take to mean wishy-washy) He says He will spew us out of His mouth. Not a pretty picture when you think about it. I hope you will join me in the effort to make God the centerpoint of my life so that He can shine forth in EVERY situation and relationship. That is my job...my reasonable service to Him. God wants to bless you, today...He wants to bring you into a more intimate relationship with Him. He wants to carry your burdens and give you peace. Who among us, in these troubled times, couldnt appreciate that?
