As I was typing the post below I realised Henry, our year-old Basset, who was in the garden had been quiet for some time, unusual for him as he likes to let us know hes about. I went out to call him and nothing, normally he peeps out of the shrubs and we have a lovely game of hide and seek before he comes in. This time he was nowhere to be seen or heard. Barney our ageing Spaniel obviously sensed something was wrong and came outside going straight to the fence and barking. It was one of the worst moments as I realised Henry had got out of the garden. Hubby went to put his shoes on and I went to the front door to check the side garden and sitting there with a smug expression was Henry!! We are now going to have to have an extra try at Basset proofing the garden again. Im thinking a ten-foot moat full of water might do the trick!!
