As I was working yesterday I did a little reflection on Season 4 - TopicsExpress

As I was working yesterday I did a little reflection on Season 4 and then a glaring problem came to mind. Do you all remember Tywin and Oberyns interaction in the brothel? The one where Tywin pretty much pompously confirms to Oberyn he ordered Elia Martells death and even offers up Gregor to Oberyn on the condition he wait till after the trial as opposed to the book where hes determine to keep Gregor alive on the condition hes too valuable a soldier and its ambiguous if he ordered Elia dead or not? I find this completely out of character for Tywin as a whole. Does he not understand that he just admitted to a heinous war crime and that if Oberyn should die against Gregor that will only strengthen Dornes resolve to plot war? Not only that, theres another change on the show that also adds to this extremely risky move and behavior. Tywin confirms to Cersei theyre...well...pretty much broke and are relying heavily on the Tyrells to back their butts in their affairs. Now say that Dorne wanted to go to war with Tywin after the death of Oberyn, BUT, the Tyrells want no part of war because they feel they dont wanna expend soldiers for a matter between the Lannisters and Martells. And with the Bolton and Freys already with target markers on their heads in the North, did Tywin even think this move out? Honestly I didnt understand the point of these changes on the show other than to make Tywin even more of an unlikable jerk-ass than he was in the books. Whatre youre thoughts? Do you agree these where questionable changes? -Raimundus Rex
