As I watched 12 days of slave, I can actually see why many of us are fearful of helping one another. We have been programed to look the other way when one is going through pain or in some cases when one has a plan to advance . Unity is a mere sound of a tingling brass...Where there is no unity there is no power. This is my pact..I will never use the word Nigger from this day forth or call a sister out of her name for as along as I live. That would be an insult to my ancestors. My black women are beautiful and strong. And My black brothers are kings of the most high. However, our challenge is that most of us havent grasp that concept about ourselves. Many of us are still playing the fool. For instance, we pat ourselves on the back when we take advantage of a woman. Not realizing that it says more about our flawed character than it does her vulnerability. Using the child against the father is just another tool to create a bastard. If two cant talk then atleast for the childrens sake create a peaceful space where they can grow and learn from the perspective of harmony. Many of our generations are still concerned with image as oppose to substance. If one wants to fit in with a certain crowd he or she begins to conform to that mold as oppose to creating a different mold. When will we change? when will we take off the shackles of fear and allow the spirit of potential to rise up and take its place? When will our men and women learn to change there vocabulary to positive speech. Queens shouldnt be cursing kings shouldnt be abusing their Queens. When will we stop gossiping about each other and tearing each other down. When will we learn? When? when? when? when? And for the Black man & woman there is no such thing as one has arrived. The work is to great...L.D. Faison
