As Im driving back home to North Carolina And I go back to Sunday July 6, 2014 at 5:38am and the phone rings...I answer and I get the horrific news of my son Carmelo Riveras death All I could say NOT MY BABY PLEASE DEAR GOD TELL ME NOT MY BABY? I hang up the phone and threw some clothes in the suitcase and wake up my grandaughters and I said lets go and then I called my son Leonardo...and I said r u awake he said yes I tell him of terrible tragedy I pick him up and I sped to Holley,New York It was the longest and worse 10 and half hours of my life😭😭😭🙏 As I am driving Im calling my family and giving the tragic news Then my family is traveling to New York Finally I arrive and as I drive unto the driveway Im told the Holley football team is holding a vigil for my son and they will be retiring his #50 football jersey Then immediately after You can only imagine a mother would have to do for her child While preparing his service amongst other things I would check the news Carmelos fb page and the visits were pouring in And then people bringing food for the familyand then Wednesday July 9,2014 arrives..... And I see how many people came and went I would say over 500 at his viewing at fowler funeral home Of course a lot of sadness but much much love for our son and the family Everything was absolutely beautiful for our son,brother,godson,nephew,cousin,uncle,grandson ,best friend and friend. The football team at Holley had T-shirts made for the immediate family and football team and handed them out at the service Father Jesuss words at the service for my son were touching Then I spoke about my son At first I was shaking and I took a deep breath And as I had my sons urn locket around my neck I felt a warmth Then the words just rolled out of my mouth And I knew that Carmelo gave me the strength to do it Then Carmelos boss at restaurant 58 MAIN Closes down the restaurant and caters the food and restaurant in Carmelo Riveras honor I want to thank Carmelos father Carmelo Rivera Guerrero and Veronica Rangel for their hospitality and permitting my family to stay there I want to thank My family Jessica Flores/Erik Flores/Chicana Rodriguez/Nora Alvarez/Livorio Alvarez/ Jr Zmr/Miriam Zamora Pérez/ Maria Rodriguez And the Rivera & Rangel family for taking care of the guests To everyone who brought food daily for the family.
