As Im reviewing my tuition and fees for college, I cant help but notice how participation in the arts isnt rewarded enough. In high school, I got slightly above average grades, practically lived at school between rehearsals for drama and chorus, and walked the field with honors. I received 3 small scholarships along with Hope and Pell. Some of the athletic people I had classes with had referrals (and arrests; lets be honest.), would fail classes or get passed by some ignorant teacher, but still went on to college with a full ride. I appreciate the aid I received, but how can people who ONLY showed some kind of work ethic on a field (if that) have less financial worries than myself? Its something our education systems should really think about.
