As Im studying at the coffee shop, an older lady approached me and commented on the anatomy charts I was studying, she then continued on to tell me that are had studied within the fields of healthcare to become a practitioner as a nurse. A few minutes later conversation naturally came to a close and I returned my focus to my work, she then readdressed me. In doing so, she began to speak about karma, and for sake of maintaining a respectful attitude towards an individual who was clearly my elder, I reluctantly listened. When she asked my option about the concept of Karma, I explained that although karma may be an understandable concept, it is not an actual dynamic, essentially stating that more of a concept that has become distorted and used literally rather than as an analogy to attempt to explain of the repercussions that may occur to an individual who behaves in a socially unjust manner, she didnt seem to like that. She adamantly elaborated that karma is not only real but also is the sole underlying governing force of the universe. I dont know why, but I attempted to explain the psychological aspects and predisposition that human being have towards seeking and constructing all encompassing explanations about the universe around them as a means to feel secure and reassured about the significance of their existence, further I tries to explain that if an individual acts in good conduct simply out of fear fir sake of avoidance of the negative effects of karma, then that isnt a health of productive mentality since the motivational core of it is produced by a fear based mentality. She didnt seen to understand. Then, she mentioned the time she saw tinker bell being chased by a spiritual demon in her bathroom (seriously). I asked if she meant that as some type of analogy, hoping it was, to my dismay it wasnt. This lady was seeing tinkerbell and demons, and was clearly suffering from a borderline to moderate state of delusional psychosis. At this point I proceeded by telling her that she had given me a lot of think about, and thanked her for her time ending the conversation before she had the chance to tell me that tinker bell was standing on my shoulder or something.
