As Ive said before, one of the big problems in the world is peoples desire for simplicity. Perhaps thats why my dad would get upset when my mom would ask, in the middle of a movie, So is he a good guy or a bad guy? We all have great lovable features, great deeds, and not so great ones. IMO, that means we should not take a binary approach to judging those individual deeds, either.. If a robber is shot, thats great, right? What if the robber was wanting money to feed their child, who was starving, and who is now without a father? I think all actions are simultaneously a combination of both. Actions can have a net good amount that is positive, negative, very positive, very negative, etc. Just like any rational number. Or they can basically zero out. If more took that view, we might not hate so much. Many fail to look at the pros of a hated action (with known cons) to perform what I call a pro-cons analysis prior to passing judgment.
