As Ive written before the level of teaching at higher education is quite a disaster. It is not only teachers to blame as the education system keeps putting more pressure on them. Teaching is secondary not only in our universities but also our schools. There is more administration, more competition for making profit, professors have to be good managers instead of good teachers and so on... In 2015 I will launch some classes open to everyone, with particular attention the participation of youth from Brussels. Initially the idea was classes only for the youth but after discussing it with some of them it seemed us a better idea to make it open to everyone, intergenerational. In this way students can learn from each other. All the information available at this moment is the following: - Title of the classes: Roots & Critique - Topic: critical consciousness - 2 thinkers will be central: Brazilian pedagogue Paulo Freire and Afro-American writer and feminist bell hooks - 8 classes between Feb-April 2014 - Language will be English or Dutch - The classes will be atypical to present forms of teaching. The idea is to create a learning community. - The number of participants will be limited Final information will follow in the beginning of January.
