As James Brown said, This aint no Honky Hoedown..GET ON UP was a great film depicting the hardest working man in show businesss rise to stardom brilliantly played by Chadwick Boseman ( from 42). I loved the way his childhood through becoming a STAR (an icon) was reflected throughout the film showing us how he grew out of poverty and abuse to eventually proclaiming himself the godfather of soul, with his roots coming from the gospel church. Simply put, he went through so much as a child and it really took a toll on him, dont want to divulge to much of his early years but thats what made him a force to be reckon with ( Mr. Brown to you all) and nobody came close to being the star that he became and he made sure of that as he was not the nicest man while wrestling with his inner demons. Yes, you may shed a tear but you will want to get on up and dance MORE! Really shows you the sign of the times with Dan Akroyd giving a good performance playing his friend and agent. I assure you this will make you want to get on off that floor and feel good! Go see it and have a Funky good time.
