As National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) continues, we thank Crystal Run Village for sharing these photos and stories of Melissa and Andrew, both of whom work at Stop & Shop Shop in Newburgh. Melissa works as a front end associate, bagging customers groceries. She is very well known and appreciated by employees and shoppers alike. Throughout her employment, Melissa has had many shoppers specifically choose her register to check out. She is a beloved employee who soon will working completely independent of a job coach. Andrew works as a cart attendant, helping cashiers with bagging groceries and returning items to the shelves. He also handles the recycling and outdoor garbage bins. Andrew goes the extra mile by helping customers bring their groceries to the car. NDEAM raises awareness about disability employment issues and celebrates the diverse individuals with disabilities who contribute to New Yorks workforce. The 2014 theme: Expect. Employ. Empower.
