As November starts and as I did last year, I posted something I was thankful for everyday of the month. It can get pretty...well... stressful on a daily basis to post a thankful message when sometimes ya just dont feel like it. I dont mean thankful but I mean sometimes I dont feel like finding the right words so that people will get what Im trying to say. Its easy to be thankful everyday, just look around. I opened my eyes this morning, my feet hit the floor and I was able to walk to the bathroom, brush my teeth, take Rocky out before he peed on the floor. But what Im really thankful for today is, my dad is alive. Hes had a horrible couple of years and suffered the loss of my mother. He took care of her like you would take care of a newborn baby that could not care for themselves. He sacrificed his needs for hers but come to think of it, hes always done that. Hes a 59 giant of a man. He can cook, clean, bake, sew, babysit, hunt, fish, garden, paint, you name it, he can do it or has done it for me and or our family. He worked 2 jobs for many many years. He ruined his knee 25 years ago jumping from our tractor when we were making hay, hes made wine, wreaths, picked mushrooms, served his country, suffered the loss of a daughter when she was only 20 and he was 46. He took me to the drive-in movies to see the Flintstones by ourselves , I was 10 ...when Im sure he would have rather taken my brother to the dump to shoot rats...(Remember those days). He took care of his parents too. He was an old Italian even when he was young. He honored his parents and still tells stories of the good old days. Hell be 82 in March and hes almost one of the last of the ...well I dont want to go there. Rick got him some apples a couple of weeks ago and so far hes brought 5 apple pies here in two weeks. He talks about my mother all the time, he says how much he misses her. He told me she was such a good girl. He thinks he was pretty, I am SO THANKFUL to hear this from my father. I am so thankful to be able to talk to my father. Hes a talker...Im a talker...I sure do love him and I am very thankful this first day of November 2014 for Arno Serafini. I hope I start next November with the same post!
