As October draws to a close the pink gloves will be gone from sight, the save the ta-tas shirts folded neatly and packed away til next October; but for some of us breast cancer awareness is something we live each day of every month not just October. Every morning when we dress we see the scars of our battle. Each day when we put on the bra that holds the remains of our mutilated womanhood we are reminded that cancer has touched us in such a personal way that only another survivor can understand. As we go about our daily lives no one knows that we think about it every day no matter if it was diagnosed yesterday or 20 years ago. To my survivor sisters I offer understanding, to the community at large I ask that breast cancer awareness becomes something you also think about everyday. Keep in mind that in 2014 it is estimated there will be more than 300,000 newly diagnosed cases; I am sure that you will know one of them.
