The virus, first detected in Zaire (The Democratic Republic of Congo) in 1976, caused several epidemics in south and central Africa. However, in 2014, it has gone beyond its known territories and showed up in Liberia, Sierra Leon and Guinea, casing havoc on their citizens, severe enough to drew attention of WHO, CDC and rest of the world. Despite all the wealth, personnel and technology, the disease remained unrestrained. As a result, it is not only a challenge to those unfortunate nations, but it is also becoming a challenge to the world across the Atlantic. Since the detection of Ebola in Dallas, the entire nation is in a state of fear of an epidemic. And that is because Ebola is new to this country and statistically it is a fatal disease. This course is designed to inform the audience about the disease and highlight the preventive measures which if practiced properly can contain the spread.
