As Salaamun Alaikum Sisters and Brothers, We are at the 125 mark for signatures. We need to reach at least 1000 for the petition to be taken seriously. Please help us get people to sign this petition. It is very important to stop this abuse against our women, daughters and elderly. I believe that there are a lot of men who are feeling as though that I am exaggerating the situation of domestic violence amongst faith based organizations…meaning Muslim, Christians and others. I have been challenged on mediocre issues about scriptures, instead of individuals investigating what the Petition is actually about. So, here is the objective of our Petition: If there are Faith Based Organizations that are not willing to provide, connect or network with social services that address the issues of Domestic Violence, Child Abuse and Elderly Abuse, then we are saying that they should not have “Tax Exempt Status”. If a woman, child or elderly is brought to the attention of the Faith Based Organization and there are no steps taken to investigate, navigate or propagate to the proper authorities…then we, at Al Maidah, are saying that this particular Faith Based Organization should be prosecuted for failure to assist another human being in need and failure to report a crime. Their “Tax-Exempt” status should be taken away forever. This is our petition that may or may not one day become a law, but we need Faith Based Organizations to fulfill their responsibilities to the communities and to stop limiting their concerns to those just inside the building but also outside. God causes the rain to fall on the unjust as well as the just; the rich as well as the poor, the ignorant as well as the arrogant!
