As Semi-Finalist notifications roll out through tonight and next week please please PLEASE keep in mind that a rejection letter is not the end of the world. I applied Freshman year for Arabic Summer and didnt even make it to Semifinalst. Im grateful because that rejection freed up my summer to work as a Community Organizer for several political organizations, and helped me to find my passion. I did STARTALK Arabic at my local community college, applied the following year, and had a blast doing NSLI-Y Arabic in Morocco this past summer. Next year Ill be a Rotary Youth Exchange student in Europe (most likely Italy). Rejection & disappointment are bound to happen in your life. Please dont take this as a rejection of your self worth but rather an opportunity to look into other options around you. Best of luck to ALL applicants this year :)
