As Yisra’el, Ya’akov now moved about with a new level of consciousness. Having defeated the angel as “spirit of flesh and blood,” he moved into a whole new consciousness of oneness with God. ’Esav, who now experienced the light of Yisra’el for the first time, was attracted to it and really wanted an ongoing relationship, but Ya’akov passed up the proposal because he knew he needed to separate from the dark side influence that ’Esav represented. After they separated, Ya’akov went to a place called Sukkot where he built spiritual homes, or sukkot.
